One of my main goals for creating this site is to advocate for authenticity – I want you to believe in your bones that it is possible to be a fun, authentic and spiritual human and make plenty of money.  What does this have to do with sugar water?  Let me explain ..

This morning I met with Sejual Shah, a wonderful EFT practitioner – her site is www.healthyinmind.com – for our weekly Mastermind session.  It was my turn and I brought up fear I was feeling about a project I’ll be announcing soon.  This project is going to mean MUCH more visibility for me and my business.

Sugar Water, Money and Spirituality

Sugar Water, Money and Spirituality

I couldn’t quite put my finger on this fear.  Sejual helped me clarify and clear what was going on.

When I was a kid, we lived a few miles from the headquarters from one of the largest soft drink companies in the world.  Also as a child, my father worked in a company whose major source of income was tobacco products. Many of my friends parents worked in environments like this.

Even then, I felt strongly that making tons of money selling soda (yep, that’s the sugar water)  and other products that damaged peoples health was out of integrity.  Looking back from today’s vantage point, I realize that early in life I took a spiritual vow to value integrity over money.

While I have done LOTS of work on allowing money and my spiritual beliefs to live well together, this new venture I’m embarking on brought up this theme at a new level.  While most of me is excited and aligned with increased success, I realized that there was a part of me feeling afraid I might “step out of integrity as I step into the limelight.”

Four things I learned about the dynamics of increasing success from this experience:

  1. At the threshold of each new level of success, we are likely to experience new issues. This is normal – when we come to the edge of our known world, it’s our nervous system’s job to send out a signal.  It’s a sign saying, “You are leaving the known, are you sure you want to do this?”
  2. Spiritual people often take vows that impact our relationship with money. My mostly unconscious vow had been to value integrity more than I value money.  Thanks to today’s session, I now believe that I can continue to find more and more ways to make money with the power of my integrity.
  3. Without clearing, #1 and #2 often sabotage our success. My own life story prior to energy psychology is a tale of good intentions sabotaged by the above.  Most of my clients have similar stories.
  4. Support is essential. Tiger Woods had a coach before he became a golf sensation and having great support is significant part of why he became the golfer he is.   Successful people almost always have a combination of mentors, coaches, mastermind groups, prosperity buddies, etc.  I would like to invite you to explore the level of success support you have in your life.

No matter where you are in your success journey, understanding these 4 dynamics will increase your ability to manifest success.  I’d love to hear your thoughts about how you have seen these and other dynamics work in your life.  Please comment below and thank you in advance for sharing.

With regard to the vows, one reason why it’s so hard to let go of them is a subconscious belief that underlies the vow – that the two ideas are absolutes, and in conflict (eg is it money before integrity, or integrity before money?). The ideas are usually concepts, but not absolutes, and they are not in conflict at all.

  • Rachel says:

    PS addition to previous comment

they SEEM to be in conflict to the person at the time, so the person makes a vow to put one before the other. But usually it’s more because of the person at the time could not understand sufficiently – they saw one own point of view, but not the global picture, and they made assumptions to fill in the gaps. So they needed to assert their values with a vow.

When one undoes the vow, one is left with the initial conflict zone, and hopefully one doesn’t tie up all the loose ends in a new knot (vow), but works to understand more, deeper, as you said, to take advice and second and third opinions, find out how do other people handle this, what do thy think, and why?. then the person makes I guess, a new decision – but a more flexible one, not a new vow. Also a more informed decision. eg in your case, understanding why a person agrees to make money off sugar water, or cigarettes. how do they view these things? why? what other options did they have and which other values of theirs would they have had to forsake for the other options?

please dont publish comment if you don’t like it.

Thanks for another great post, Paul! I’ve definitely experienced this one as well, mixed in with a really good dose of “family is more important than money” and an extra measure of “freedom is more important than money”. I’m sure you can imagine what I managed to create in my life with all that going on :) Thank goodness for EFT, LOL!

  • Thanks for that Paul.

I have found a good way to reverse vows is to use pat Carrington’s Choice’s Method. So let’s suppose your mother was always angry and you did not want to be angry like her. You make a vow that looks something like

“I vow never to be like my mother.”

The problem in terms of creating abundance is that your mother was also rich. So your vow to never be like her, keeps you from being rich. So you want to release the vow and find a more empowering replacement. In this case, you want to pick and choose which of the traits of your mother you wish to chose or reject. So your set-up statement might look like this.

“Even though I vowed never to be like my mother,
I release that vow and choose to accept or reject my mothers traits on a case-by-case basis.”

after repeateing the set-up phrase ta a round on the old worn out vow:

“I vowed never to be like my mother.”

Then a round on the empowering replacement phrase:

“I release that vow and choose to accept or reject my mothers traits on a case-by-case basis.”

And a third round in which you alternate the two.

Do this three times a day for three weeks to create a new mental pathway.

I’m really excited about the upcoming project. The guests are feeling it too.

Agree 100% Rachel. The vows often are connected with deep emotions and live subconsciously. That’s why having a loving and supportive guide is so helpful (point #4).

  • Paul Zelizer says:

I hear you Karen, I sure managed to create a mess in my money world until I started to change these beliefs with EFT. Viva la EFT! :~)

  • Paul Zelizer says:

Chip, thanks for sharing this. Sejual actually used a blend of EFT and Family Constellations in our session – I call in Money Matrix. And, the Choices Method is one of my other favorite ways of clearing vows like this. Thanks so much for showing us how it’s done!

Re: upcoming project – I’m pysched and so far everyone I have mention it to wants to play with us. Look forward to announcing to the world soon.

  • Karen says:

I agree that the Choices method is a great tool when we’re dealing with these “either/or” types of beliefs. I’ve used it a LOT in my own personal work and with clients. Once you’re aware of what your “either/or” story is, it’s usually pretty easy to come up with a good setup. For my own “old” story, I would have used something like:

“ET I’ve always believed good moms can’t have successful careers, I choose to find it surprisingly easy to create time for both work and family in my life”

(of course this will often bring up a lot of tailenders that could be tapped on as well!)

And I can’t say enough good things about Family Energetics. It’s really helped me in some powerful ways.

  • Paul Zelizer says:

Choices – YES! Family Energetics – YES! Karen rocks – YES! :~)

  • Thanks so much for sharing this Paul! I love your openess about your fear, it just goes to show that even a seasoned EFT pro still needs help to knock down those barriers. It’s often the small things that have the greatest impact on our adult lives. It’s a life long journey of self discovery, how lucky we are that we’re able to unite in this way and grow together!

  • Paul Zelizer says:

YW Natasha. Wherever we are in the process of growing our business, there’s always the opportunity to grow into helping more people. Doing so is a choice that takes courage. And, it’s a whole lot easier to have courage when you’re surrounded by other people who are growing together. Thanks for the way you choose to grow and inspire others Natasha.

  • Sejual says:

Wonderful clarity you offer, Paul, as always! I’m grateful to have your coaching input into ‘my stuff’.

Point #4 you make has underlied my own stellar growth this year.

I’ve had a huge flow of career highs unfolding in recent months – corporate EFT contract abroad next month, being invited to do EFT workshops abroad for next year, being invited by Gary Craig to do an audio with him and Lynne Shaner this week. There is more I could add to this list. I mention these as evidence of the power of having a skilful coach in support of my growth. Thank you.

  • Paul Zelizer says:

    Sejual,

You are an amazing woman who deserves all these successes that are coming your way- you walk your talk of doing your work. I am honored to know you, to laugh with you, and to be your Mastermind buddy. I guess it’s saying the obvious that you’re an important part of my success support team – but I’m saying it anyway.

    With much appreciation,
    Paul

  • Carol says:

Gary Craig addresses this with what’s called the “minister’s mindset” – I’m doing God’s work – I can’t make money! Many professions, such as social workers and coaches suffer from these conflicts. I can only say that I couldn’t agree more that we need to reconcile them and EFT is a great tool to do just that!

  • Paul Zelizer says:

That’s right Carol – forgot all about this. Agree with you 100% – EFT is great tool to clear these limiting beliefs. Thanx for your thoughts and input.
