Done well, that’s exactly what podcasting does for your conscious business.
If you’ve been following me at all, you might know that I recently launched the Awarepreneurs podcast. It’s launched with a great deal of momentum and I’ve gotten a lot of requests from people to share information on how to do a podcast. So in this post and video, I’ll share everything I know.
Here are the Cliff Notes version of the benefits of podcasting. In other words, my answer to “Why should you considering launching a podcast?”
- It’s insanely fun. An interview style podcast show is THE single most fun form of marketing I’ve ever come across. You get an excuse to have meaningful conversations with some of the most interesting people on the planet on topics you are deeply passionate about.
- It gets other people to market for you. I can’t emphasize this point enough. If you do a good job making your guests shine and having an interesting dialogue, your guests will be thrilled to share your podcast with their networks. In other words, they will be happy to market for you. The simple way you do this is when you launch a new episode, you make a simple graphic – known as podcast art – with the guest’s name and the topic of the show. You then ask them to share it with their community on social media and in their newsletter. They will be happy to do this if you make them shine.
- You can get PAID to podcast. The Entrepreneurs on Fire podcast earns John Lee Dimas an average of $200,000 per month. Most podcasts don’t earn anywhere near that much. Still, with intention and the willingness to show up regularly, I think it’s very feasible for podcasting to be a significant source of income. The strategy I landed on is called Patreon – a platform that’s specifically made for artists and content creators. It allows people to give a monthly amount to support you in continuing to create great content. At the time of this post, I’m at $511 per month from 10 supporters. As the podcast grows, increasing this sustainable source of revenue is one of my top priorities. Here is the Awarepreneurs Patreon page.
